ADVANCED RADIOLOGY CONSULTANTS
                                INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY

We are sub-specialized doctors called Interventional Radiologists who perform minimally invasive image guided procedures.  All procedures are performed at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, a suburban Chicago hospital located in Park Ridge, IL (Top 100 Hospitals).

Using imaging technology we are able to perform a wide range of procedures to diagnose and treat many common as well as rare disorders.  Quite often with interventional procedures, surgery can be avoided. Most procedures are performed through a single small nick in the skin.

Some of the more commonly performed procedures in Interventional Radiology include
port placement for patients with cancer requiring chemotherapy, uterine fibroid embolization for treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids, vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty for treatment of compression fractures of the spine and  angioplasty and stents for treatment of blockages of the arteries to the legs or kidneys or blockages related to other peripheral arterial disease.  Carotid artery stenting for patients with carotid artery narrowing or stenosis which puts patients at risk for strokes.  Please see list and links on the Procedures page for more info.

Procedures are performed when indicated following consultation with one of our interventional radiologists.  Most patients are discharged within 24 hours and often the same day.  Full pre-operative, anesthesia, recovery and observation facilities are available as needed.
